In 1979 Miami Beaches Art Deco Historic District was listed on National Register of Historic places. The Art Deco District is the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world. The structures were built between 1923 and 1943. Carmen wanted to capture the extraodinary architecuture of these gems of tropical deco that are in pastel colors and neon lighting. Many have been restored, but some lost to progress. One of her favorites is of Wolfies Coffee Shop. In her paintings, she is trying to capture the Art Deco of years past to show future generations.
